Gary's Daily Trip Down the Strip!                                  Aug. 2, 1998

It's a beautiful morning in Las Vegas! The sun is peeking over sunrise mountain to the northeast. The strip is "spotlighted" by the suns early morning glow. From my home in Henderson , about 5 miles from the south end of the strip, I take Sunset Rd. due west straight towards Las Vegas Blvd. The air is crisp, the sky is blue, it is a comfortable 80 degrees. McCarran Airport is to my right. and I see airplanes of all shapes, sizes and colors, some coming, and some going. I feel bad for those that have to leave this wonderful place, I hope they return soon! At the end of Sunset Rd., at the strip, is the All-American SportPark, my future office is inside. The SportPark is scheduled to open around September 1, 1998.. I can't wait! More about the SportPark later. Next to the SportPark is the Callaway 9 hole, 3 par golf course and driving range..a few early morning duffers are enjoyed the "cool" part of day. As on turn north on Las Vegas Blvd. (the strip) I see Mandalay Bay...an awesome sight. This very attractive Mega Resort is scheduled to open in 1999. The construction crew scurries about it's base..the sun's rays on Mandalay Bays reflective gold windows create a golden path on the pavement below. The grounds of Mandalay Bay are beautiful. This will be quite the place when completed.

Crossing Tropicana the Statue of Liberty (replica at NYNY) looms over head. Good morning fair lady! To my right the massive bronze lion in front of the MGM Grand roars proudly. Not far down this portion of the strip is the spot where the Aladdin used to stand. The still standing Theater of the Performing arts stands lonely vigil to the Aladdin that once was, and bulldozers of all shapes and sizes prepare the land for the New Aladdin that soon will enhance visions of those who visit Las vegas.

Hilton's Paris Hotel is next in line on the strip. This Hotel will be beautiful. At first locals thought little of the Paris with Bellagio so near completion across the street, but Paris' tower has been topped off and the Eiffel tower replica is taking shape with three of it's four legs already in place. This is a masterpiece in the making. Ahhh, Paris...sigh! Traveling further down the strip I pass the glorious Caesars Palace, the Flamingo Hilton, Harrahs, and the Mirage. I am approaching The Venetian on the spot where the Sands once stood. The Venetian is so big...and it will be so impressive when completed. The facade is taking shape, and the framework of the clock tower at the entry is complete! I'm getting excited!!! I am ready to board a gondola and float down the canals of...Las Vegas!!! I love this town. I must end this story as I turn left on Spring Mountain Rd. where Treasure Island pirates beckon me inside...back to reality...I am headed to my office just down the street..see you later strip! and thanks. you've made my day!!!
